Brice Noeser
Ruminant Ruminant
-
The duo is presented in the form of vignettes, skillful games, and pastiches in which words, dance, music, and cinema form an unidentified dancing object, subtle and exhilarating. It’s not about cattle, it’s not about love, it’s not about Alsatian, but it’s about everything and nothing, at home, in the studio, on stage. It also dances, and may even sing. “It” was born from the conceptual union of Karina Iraola and Brice Noeser for a festival of games and interactions that gradually take shape, as they try to understand where it’s headed.
As fine strategists of the mechanics of the body and language, they focus on outsmarting and deconstructing speech, thought, and movement. Karina Iraola and Brice Noeser overload, entangle, and burden both body and mind with tensions, tremors, constraining positions, and labyrinthine discourse.
Having traveled through 21 dance floors since 2014, Ruminant Ruminant was presented in double programs, in a 35-minute version, at Tangente and OFFTA (Montréal), La Rotonde (Quebec), within the network of Alliances françaises in Mexico (Tlaxcala, Puebla, Mexico City), and at the Festival Trente Trente in Bordeaux. In the fall of 2017, the creation of Ruminant Ruminant continued to deepen, evolving into a new 50-minute form that was presented on the stage of Théâtre La Chapelle in December 2017 in Montreal and in January 2019 at La Fundicion in Bilbao (Spain) and at the Trente Trente festival in Bordeaux (France).
