Claudia Chan Tak

Au revoir zébu

  • Au revoir zébu explores funeral rites by tracing Claudia Chan Tak’s mourning process in two parts.

The first part reveals a monumental sequin dress, crafted over the span of a year, created as a way to accompany her grandmother toward death and into the realm of the ancestors. The second part features a long flowered dress, made in collaboration with more than a hundred people with whom she shared spaces for conversation about grief.

Set to the mesmerizing voice of Malagasy singer Jackson Jaojoby, this dance honors the strength and transformative power of collective healing processes.
